The Nineteen Seventies

The 1970's was an era of maxi dresses, floppy hats, long hair and Afros, bright colors, bold patterns, hot pants and platform shoes; and currently one of the many trends influencing our styles today. Many of the hairstyles included ethnic styles, long and straight and flipped. They were fun, stylish and creative  - some worn today with a modern twist.

And the most memorable for me was the music; which came from some great bands who produced incredible songs from punk, rock, reggae, soul/r&b and disco. Also the best love songs came out in the 70's.

Films

The decade films were entertaining and had the best plots; many of which I have on DVD and can watch over and over again without getting bored.

And the Blaxploitation films, (a genre of black cinema) were filled with lots of kick-butt action, great fashion and had the best soundtracks.

Sitcoms

There was nothing like looking forward to watching those weekly 1970's T.V. series. Comedies like "The Odd Couple", "Rhoda" and "Maude", drama's such as "Columbo", "Baretta" and "Kojak" were my favorite cop and detective shows. The variety/sketch programs like "The Carol Burnett Show" and the "Flip Wilson Show" were so funny they kept me in tears; all of the latter were among many that kept me entertained.

Two of my favorite T.V. shows "Colombo" and "The Jefferson's"

And who can forget this locomotive train on Saturday mornings
